watching the collective pattern emerge

until now, i had no idea this project existed. thank you plastic bag, for pointing me in the right direction.

the smaller picture, by kevan davis, is absolutely breathtaking. it asks individuals to choose whether a pixel is on or off when contributing to the collective visual interpretation of a term. there's quite a few already complete, and fortunately the thousands of contributions have been saved and made into animations, which track each term's history. some of the easier concepts, such as circle and arrow, emerge rather quickly. others, like television and flower, don't emerge at all. oh i just adore this idea - what an important piece.
