raw

what happened in the minute before you took the picture?

RAW is an audiovisual recording device, developed by MIT Media Lab Europe researchers Joelle Bitton, Stefan Agamanolis and Matthew Karau. essentially, it's a digital camera that enables you to record any surrounding sound before and after the photograph is taken, hence providing the image with a greater audiovisual context.

i've often thought that this would make for an interesting exhibition idea...seems like the people at MIT have beaten me to it. again.
