when interactive art gets bored

this piece is really clever. the barmaid in this interactive version of 'a bar at the folies bergere' will 'disappear' if she senses the viewer's gaze upon her.

We expanded upon the concept of the Mona Lisa with this work. As you see yourself reflected in the mirror of the painting, the barmaid comes to life and refuses to serve you. She now returns the gaze upon the viewer, compounding the dizzying interplay of who is looking at who, and who are the reflections looking at. If she is bothered too much. she will leave. Only when everyone leaves the space will she return.

definitely worth a look.
